According to the 2010 population and housing census, the Catholic church in Ghana constitutes about 13-15% of the national population. The contribution and impact of the Catholic church in Ghana far exceeds its numerical strength. Through the Catholic Church’s neutrality and objectivity on issues of national development, the Catholic Bishops stand out as voice of reason especially when the country gets to the crossroad on critical national issues. As part of the TEPPIA TVET Project activities, Network meetings is to be convene for deliberations, knowledge sharing and strategic thinking for the development of technical and vocational training in the Tamale Ecclesiastical Province (Five Northern Regions). Series of workshops have been organized for Principals and other stakeholders. One of these workshops was held at Bolgatanga in January 2024 for all Principals of the Catholic TVET Institutions. Issues discussed included: challenges and opportunities for TVET in our Province and the role of the Network, reports from Principals, how to grow TVET in Northern Ghana and scholarship opportunities to upgrade staff academic qualification. During the meeting, each institution identified areas (department) that they could specialize and develop into a Centre of Excellence. Principals were tasked to write a proposal on those selected areas and TEPPIA will consolidate these proposals for donor funding.
